BiralArt AM29 Kart Jr Setup

I’ve been looking at Caster and Camber but I really have no idea what success looks like. I feel like the kart should jack more in corners! I put in 1 click of positive camber on the sniper front end to try to get the rear tire off the ground in the corner like our competitors. I feel like my kids 4 tires are flat on the track. We are running zero on the front for camber and zero toe, but we feel it sags into a negative camber once he sits in the kart. The seat and Kart were at factory zero yesterday at the start of the day. I feel like there is more opportunity an variability in the front end but this is the first year have to unlock the flavors of the front end to find performance.

For the record, my kid is hitting constant laps times. He can improve his driving, yes, day 3 in this new chassis. We are just trying to get him to a point where we can say it is NOT your kart it’s my driver.

What class/engine package are you running? That would inform where your setup should be a bit more. A 206 setup is going to be somewhat different to a KA setup.

Adding caster will increase weight-jacking and the rate and amount the inside rear wheel lifts. The trade-off is that it introduces more scrub into the front end and makes the steering heavier. Most tuning elements in karting have trade-offs like this, so it’s about finding the right balance with your adjustments and not over-doing it.

The kart will pick up a fair bit of negative camber when on the ground with the driver in the seat; that’s normal.

I’ll wait for Matt (the AM29 expert) to comment, but I’ll say on Oranges you’re going to see VERY little lift on the inside rear wheel. The tire is simply so hard that you can’t generate a ton of side-bite and flex in the frame. I’ve driven some very well-setup 206 karts and they didn’t lift the inside rear wheel much, if at all.

Ultimately, the stopwatch is the arbiter of whether your setup is good or not.
