Excellent!

…And this is how you confirm your 37 year old DD kart is running with CR125s at your local track. Well, at least when it comes to top speed.

Shifters really aren’t much faster on typical kart tracks anyway. Obese by comparison to the FA 100cc style karts and you waste all that time per lap changing gears.

Of course in bigger tracks it’s a different story. Before the CIK lost the plot, they had shifter and direct drive champs at different tracks. Like this:
