So about a year I noticed a water leak in the engine and I noticed the cylinder was cracked, so i got it welded, changed the piston (slightly less compression since I wanted to de-tune it a bit for reliability), reassembled it and it started and it was working fine, no water leaks (on stands didn’t take it to the track).
So I stored it in the garage for about a year and a half and now I took it to the track and it worked ok but it bogged down at WOT a couple of times, I thought maybe some remanents of old fuel or something, so I tested it again next week and I couldnt get it to start, i took the sparkplug out and it was wet, dried it, tried again and nothing and the sparkplug was wet again.
It has always been a bit stubborn to start, so I thought maybe since I’m at 7,000ft of altitude its simply running too rich, I adjusted the floater for a little less fuel and tested it the next week and now it did start but it just dies when I go full throttle, its interment sometimes coming out of a corner its fine, sometimes it just dies and I have to release the throttle, shift down and accelerate progressively, the thing is that it wasn’t smokey so it doesnt look like its running rich, what could it be?
Is it running out of fuel? faulty reed valve or is it ignition? The fault is weird because sometimes after it “dies” at WOT sometimes it wakes up full power 1 second after, and sometimes it doesnt, i have to shift down trying to get it back alive again for several seconds close to stalling it completely.
