A guy I know just finished filming that new F1 movie and said at the ring he was doing 140mph with Brad Pitt in some GT3 car. Similar rig to that but in a Porsche RSR or something. Being a Hollywood guy I’m sure the speed was closer to 100mph duing filming – they love to embellish their driving ability I learned from working with guys like Foust etc. Was on Ford Ferrari a few years back before getting out of the film industry. A top stunt driver asked if I could acquire some contraband for him and his wife going on vacation. I declined and the work dried up.
Film industry is a pretty dark world in my experience. Christian Bale is a nut case, but watching how some of the stunts were setup was interesting. Such a weird industry.
My favorite thing a stunt person said to me was. “Just because you race it doesnt mean you can do a handbrake turn precisely.” I laughed my ass off and agreed to not ruffle any feathers but…it’s pretty hilarious how these people think doing 120mph-160mph a few inches away from an apex and 20 other drivers doesn’t translate to doing multiple takes at 30-50mph. lol.
Honestly no idea. Theres frequently tv and movies being being done in the city. This is the first time I have seen such a vehicle. I assume the actors are in the car pretending to drive while the hot shoe is on roof.
I Want One. The Jim Clark edition seems cool but I don’t think the look is dialed in quite right. If it had yellow or similar wheels, to match the race car, I would be all over it.
Today, I drove most of the way to VT, in Sport+. In this, its most aggressive mapping, the car is much more tactile, with a lovely, crisp throttle and tighter suspension. The car seems to never drop below 3K, and bangs to hard limiter at 7600K. It was nice to feel the car on its toes like that.
The thing that interests me the most here is that it’s correctly powered to be a very useable car. It’s basically a Cayman, class-wise. The huge thing to me is that it has a hydraulic steering rack. I miss those and thought about how much less I feel through the wheel on the 911, relative to my older cars, today. This little car would totally do it for me.
