New homologations dropped!

All the new engine component homologations dropped, I’ve been randomly checking as I know around this time of year it usually happens. I’m guessing supernats will see some of the new engines for the top name drivers.

I’m not up on all the engine manufacturer engine names Anything new for KZ?

It looks like the Czech engine manufacturer, VM, is making a return to KZ with a newly homologated motor.

It’s tough to read as there are new motors being homologated along with older motors on the same list, but I think the brand new KZ engines on the list are:

  • IAME: R 125 Z
  • LKE: REV 1 KZ
  • Motori Seven: L11
  • Vortex: VMZ
  • TM: KZ-R3
  • VM: KZ

And then there are older, previously homologated engines on the new list:

  • Modena: KK3
  • IAME: Screamer IV
  • Vortex: RSZ
  • Vortex: VTZ
  • Vortex: RTZ
  • TM: KZ-R1
  • TM: KZ-R2

I miss seeing the smaller, boutique manufacturers on the sheet, that had their own KZ engines on previous homologations, like Pavesi, CRS, and SGM.

Yeah a friend of mine is the SGM importer and I guess they talked about doing a new engine, but the cost wasn’t justified. They’ve updated their engine that was homologated in 2016 though. :person_shrugging:

We may be looking at some VM’s.

Yes, that 2016 engine from SGM was the last model I recall seeing on a homologation sheet, I always thought the SGM SR216x was a good looking KZ, I don’t know if SGM still currently offer them for sale, but it’s nice to hear they were at least plugging on with an updated version of that engine. I can understand the challenges of trying to compete against a juggernaut like TM when they have such a huge market share with respect to KZ motors.

Anyway, it’s at least nice to see VM back again.

SGM is the new official TM tuner (and dealer).

You need to have 25 engine ready + 1 for the FIA officer (they take one for them) when they come to the factory to make the homologation, so yes big investment for small manufacturing company.

What’s the requirement for chassis? I’ve always wondered what they all needed for FIA homologation

It used to be 75 frames, 25 of them assembled for inspection.

Still the same.

For the engines FIA went down from 50 to 25 while chassis is still 75 + 25 mounted and ready for inspection.

SGM the new TM tuner and dealer?! That seems unlikely, but so did a TM/OTK tie up so who knows.

Seems to be a demo 3d printed

Unsure, but possible. Also could be 3d printed sand castings.
