Marcello, this is an awesome forum with a lot of really helpful and nice people. I’ve been here a few months. Love it! Welcome!
Got the time to try out the newly acquired Birel R31.
Nice chassis for sure, very much in line with a modern chassis in feeling. The brakes were very underwhelming, I didn’t have time to fully rebuild them, only changed the oil.
But for next year it will get fully rebuilt with new fairings, decals, tank and new paint to the frame.
Also got an old Birel shirt from my friend, nice touch!
I did have a R31 with a K12 .. hands down one of the best chassis for 100cc I ever had. Enjoy the ride
Amazing stuff mate!
It felt really good initially, I have to work with the rear grip. Medium/hard axle right now in it, thinking of a regular Medium axle😁
Unfortunately that’s the busy bee in the background, not the birel
Suggestion - try the MXC wheels , in our case they where most of the time the solutions to our needs
Thanks mate, already have them on. Slight improvement over the standard Douglas wheel
Few months of research and I realised vintage karting is very alive in the uk.
I’ve officially embarked on the restoration of this old and improperly stored kart of mine. I was hestitant, but the engine had compression… found a new 15yrs old plug in the tool box, frankensteined a carb… and then it went on the first pull. What a sound!
It’s now stripped, will be moved, cleaned, fixed and reassembled. I can’t wait to drive it again.
How will i move it from italy to uk? One luggage at a time… I let you imagine the faces when i showed up with this as my hand luggage ![]()
I have a period correct birel suit if you are interested, i think it’s either 56 or 58 size
Ohhh nice!
Could you measure from bottom to the top?
I’m 177cm ![]()
I know the vintage sizes are smaller
Yeah remind me in couple of weeks when i will get to it, that’s the only photo i have of it, looks like i have a period correct bag for it ![]()
I will!
Holy smokes that is some nice stuff. Love vintage stuff ![]()
Yeah i love 90s suits and karts, mainly crg’s though
I see ![]()
CRGs are nice as well, they have a good history ![]()
I like everything as long as it is in good shape
they all are the same, some chassis need a bit more effort to setup and others less but the outcome is the same in terms of laptime in the hands of a decent driver
Totally agree, it’s still the same with modern stuff😄
I drive the same lap times with my Tecno G10, PCR Jaguar and Birel R31-Z ![]()
Well thats the real shit !!
And excuse me for my bad american language. Blame the movie’s that raise me like that
