Race fuel concentrates

After searching the site I see there is very little conversation in general, let alone non-anecdotal conversation about race fuel concentrates (VP Octanium and Torco Accelerator are the only ones I know that have a high degree of trust and reputation).

Across four different type of two stroke engines (KT, HPV, PRD, Rok GP) I’ve been running E10 91 fuel with race fuel concentrate for several years now and have never had any issues (performance or reliability) that I can trace to the fuel I’m running, but as I’m moving to what is the most aggressive engine configuration I’ve run so far (e.g., a Super Rok, which is just a Rok GP that has 3mm more advanced timing and a more aggressive coil that increases the RPM limit by 2k) I figured it would be good to brush up on my fuel-foo.

If anyone has any specific experience or dyno backed information in regard to race fuel concentrates please share.

Similarly, this thread is attempting to rise above the level of discussion which tops out at ‘Well, my engine builder says to use x-and-such fuel and I’m not risking my investment to save a few dollars’. Those conversations are all over the internet and I’m looking for something more concrete and fact based. And of course, if you’re racing this conversation hardly matters, because you’re going to be running whatever is regulated by your ruleset or else getting disqualified.

On the topic of fuel, i was very pleasently surprised when we switched all FIA Championships to 100% sustainable fuels in 2023.

The one chosen through tender (supplied by P1 fuels, at 102 octanes) has very very good anti detonation properties and has provided close to 1hp at iso carburation on all engines (OK, OKJ & KZs) on the dyno. This is mainly due to the higher content of oxygen vs a standard Panta fuel.

It would be interesting to know what if any effect the fuel has on wear and tear.

Some manufacturers’ ruber gaskets had to be changed (intake manifold for KZ, for instance), as they absorbed the fuel and engorged.

The fuel is very “detergent” like and leaves the inside of the engines very clean (without oil film). Nice burn patern with a good racing oil, no additional unusual wear to report.
