Hey guys, I’m new to karting and just got a senior kart. I want to get lots of seat time in, but buying Mojo D5s every couple weeks is wayyy over my budget. Has anyone found good, cheaper practice tyre alternatives? I was thinking of trying MG Reds (hard), but not sure if that’ll cause issues since everyone here races on D5s.
to start I’d say practice on anything you can get your hands on cheap, other guys take offs will be fine for a while to just pound out laps. As you get better as a driver you will want to practice on what you race on, no sense spending time and $$ dialing In something different than your race package. That being said, trying a different tire and figuring out how to adjust the kart to make it work can be good for your chassis tuning skills.
