And the adult karts were made by MGM
i think the nitro lefty cadet is made my MGM
From Mondo -
Last I knew the Cadet lefty is Parolin, unless has changed in past 18 months.
Ted’s list above missing Comet Eagle, Factory. I don’t think iKart is around anymore?
Invader is still around too.
i believe iKart is still around, at least thier website it current. I know Eagle uses the same steel tubing as Tony Kart, at least that’s what comet told me, so i would expect to see increases there
looks like an executive order just ended the de minimus exemption. So i guess no more buying from Mondo Kart for me
I think that was only for China wasn’t it.
Fact Sheet: President Donald J. Trump Closes De Minimis Exemptions to Combat China’s Role in America’s Synthetic Opioid Crisis – The White House.
iKart is theoretically still around but the owner passed away back in 2020. Someone else took up the production from what I understand but I haven’t seen anything since then
Roll Speed by Scott Heath in VA is a “new” domestic showing some speed. Had the chance to talk to Scott in the weigh-in line at Roebling…and look the chassis over. Seems like a quality piece…
Because I’m the exporter and importer at the same time. But that’s besides the point, you can call it whatever you want, as an exporter, the cost for my customers in EU is higher. And no, VAT also applies to imports too, not only on stuff made inside EU. That’s where it gets twisted, it’s simply an adder to import duties, just with a different name since no value was added there. I was just bringing up an example based on Italy tables, as I mainly do CA to IT and the other way around so I’m pretty familiar with the percentages that of course go by commodity.
As for the %, 20, 30 or 39 or whatever, simply means pulling one of the trade levers softer or harder, time will be the jury as to how this plays out. If you go hard, means you are sure the end game is in your favor…and it’s not only the specific cost of the item, it’s much broader. I’m more interested to see if any of the kart giants will move (some) operations here. For sure now there’s a bigger incentive
VAT is charged on everything sold In the EU, so it has absolutely nothing to do with import tax, but yes its a tax. But goes on everything made In or outside the EU.
Regarding the kart manufactors, i cant se a firm like Tonykart, CRG, Birel ect setting up a factory In US just because the President at the moment have the feeling that everyone In the world is doing its best to screw the americans.
Most likely a lot of this will go away In 4 years unless Trump somehow pulls a Putin, and stays In Office. Anyway i cant see anyone winning on this,
I tend to agree, without congressional law making it can just be repealed by the next president and if the spoken of long term gains aren’t there yet the new president would be under pressure to repeal i’d think.
Most of the investments in American manufacturing were already planned but being sold as a win.
Margay still has a lot of imported parts That said they were born out of Marquette Tool and Die. So they might be able to go back to making parts that they buy now easier than many
Cmon bend another tube. You know you want to.
Unfortunately, I believe the Margay is not competitive outside of their own ignite series.
Ikart was taken over by johns dad Tim Martin and the machine shop he runs Martin brothers metal works. I have got 2 new chassis from him the last 2 years the first was identical to the originals and last years they started experimenting with a stiffer tubing and conventional seat mounts to reduce the crazy jacking that always had to be tunned around. Worked great for my ka last year everywhere but united karting in baltimore
I think that has been their focus for a while. They have done a good job growing grass roots in the midwest. There was a time back in the 90s that they went to Europe and competed. I expect they could compete against the European brands if it made business since. I suspect it just has not made since for some time
I’ve got mixed emotions about the tariffs. I’m a independent so its not political with me. I’ve read many times that only 40% of americans have enough savings to cover a $1000 unexpected expense. Thats pretty bad and scary. We’ve got to start doing something different.
Crazy fact. I had to look it up because i didn’t believe it. The Chicken tax with Germany. And because of that tariff my mercedes metris cargo van that was made in Spain had to be partially disassembled put in ship containers and reassembled in Charleston sc in order to avoid the tax. Lol. Crazy.
Look into the Ford transit connect. It was shipped here with disposable rear seats and rear glass, just to be converted to a cargo van by removing the seats and glass once in the US. Same reason the subaru brat had rear jump seats in the bed.
