Factory Karts Introduces FZ Shifter Engines

I remember in the past, some orgs. that offered an 80 shifter class allowed the use of front brakes with an extra 10 or 15 lbs. added to the minimum weight for them.

I also vaguely recall that some had the opinion that running front brakes were no faster than rear brake-only on an 80cc shifter, except in certain circumstances such as rain. But that was awhile ago, and opinions may have changed since then because of improved brake systems and the like.

I don’t see any reason to have front brakes (and cost and complexity) on anything under 30hp. TaGs are running just fine without them. Is it faster with them? Yes. Is it more costly? Yes. And also makes a whole swath of potential used chassis unusable.

I’d buy an 85 shifter to throw on my chassis when I tire of this KA. I won’t if I have to buy front brakes too. I’m a Yamaha fan, but I’m a budget racer. I’ve always liked the 80cc class, partly BECAUSE it didn’t require front brakes.

Is the intent for the Motori 85 to run head to head with Moto 85s?
