Formula 1 - 2025 Season Discussion

Timely that a new docuseries has launched following MX5 cup and trying to build deeper connections to the teams and drivers. I’ve watched the first 2 episodes and been very pleased with it.

Good on them for trying.

As a racer, sure I’d watch, or drive in, the MX-5 cup…but it IS hard to take them seriously sometimes…

I do see there’s a HAMILTON brake marker there…he’s not THAT old and senile?! (Nor am I.)

Love it. If I could I want to race a Fit. I do like small underpowered cars.

The current formula ford (US) regulations use a Honda Fit motor, stock. I’ve contemplated both Formula Vee and Formula Fit, but the reality is that karting is higher performance and lower cost… And since I can still race on the cool big tracks, win-win.

Cute tho

Norris might just be the worst championship contender in history. I have never seen someone who manages to choke at every given opportunity despite being protected by his team and having a rocketship.

Great laps from Leclerc, Gasly, Russell and Antonelli. Leclerc, Gasly and Russell maximized their cars and put them higher than they should have been. Tsunoda was also not far off Max apart from the mistake in his last Q3 lap, the switch with Lawson was 100% worth it. Sainz seems to be adapting well to the car.

Lewis is completely finished.

P.S. yet another disasterclass by the FIA, deleting a Q1 lap 25 minutes afterwards and another driver can’t rightfully participate in Q2 despite going through. I wonder when enough will be enough with the clownshow that is MBS’ leadership.

McLaren keep on winning this season, third race win for them in four races this season.

Interesting GP, few takeaways :

  • Piastri is extremely solid, he might regretting bottling it in Australia at the end of the season.
  • P6 in Q for Lando, mistake on the grid. He needs to wake up, and fast, because Oscar Pain Au Chocolat is not going to be a 2nd driver.
  • Ferrari … Not listening to Leclerc trying to go for a 1 stopper, instead they go for M/M/H strategy ? Wtf ? Their car is bad, they need to be bold on the strategy.
  • Mercedes fucking up the strategy for Antonelli the whole race LOL
  • Russell is the dark horse of the championship. If Merc can find 1-2 tenths of pace, he might have a shot to the WDC.
  • Sainz was overly aggressive, he is desperate for points. His move on Antonelli in T10 was so stupid.
  • Redbull needs to get its shit together. Good thing Tsunoda was not far from Max, this is encouraging. But you could see his complete lack of confidence, the car seems really hard to handle. RB needs to find a way to tame the car down, because it seems that making it edgy just to gain a tenth or so is not worth it anymore.

I feel like the narratives around Lando are gonna get silly this week. I already saw a guy on Reddit suggesting he should accept a role as #2 driver LOL.

For as bad as he looked this weekend, he very nearly recovered to P2, and he is still leading the WDC. None of his mistakes this weekend were as costly as Oscar’s off in AUS.

If he wins next week, this will be forgotten very quickly.

Net loss is not nearly as bad as Oscar’s in AUS indeed, but it is telling a much darker story about Lando’s current form.

In Australia, both Oscar and Lando made the same mistake, with Lando lucking out where Oscar went lawnmowing. But with China, Japan and Bahrein, Oscar has shown having the pace advantage over Lando.

@tankyx ya, you’re right. I think Lando was overrated last year, but things are swinging in the other direction so fast that he might become underrated soon. I’m not a fan of his, but I can’t deny that he is blindingly fast.

reddit be like that sometimes.

I try to ignore everything I read there (apart from F1Technical which has some interesting content). Full of people who clearly have no idea about motorsport and tons of reactionary takes.

This is one of the reasons I like the F1, NASCAR topics here… Conversations between racers that have more of a clue vs (Sorry) Drive to Survive folks. Look, I love that more folks are watching, I just don’t need to read those takes

I like nascar better that f1 coz im,enjoing when an angry driver can take a broken hood from his car and toss it to enother drivers car who was the wreck responsible.

Thats men racing that dont exist in f1 . My oppinion of course.

Adds a bit of jeopardy and stakes into the championship for 2026

Norris has got to be the worst championship contender of this century. He clearly isn’t the kind of driver that excels with a fast car, he is better suited to the midfield where the pressure is minimal. I can’t think of any other top team driver who makes a mistake every single time he comes under pressure.
