New karting Track in Quaker City Dragstrip In Ohio?

Good, positive rebuttal data. Well played!

It’s safe to assume that practically everyone here hopes for good outcomes. Some examples:

“They just got a Stars race in 2025”
“Decent amount of new tracks popping. Very cool to see.”
“it could be an absolute boom market”
“More great news for Ohio.”

Outside of that see a thoughtful, critical analysis and exchange of views. Many of which come from folks that have experience “in the trenches”, actively working on growing the sport.

These kinds of discussions are why the forums exist. If we all thought the same thing… there would be no discussion.

Critical analysis is not negativity.

Coming from a person who has just discovered Karting I could not be more excited. I live near Mount Vernon and seem to be in the middle of it all. I could not be more exited about the spring of 25….

Heres my thoughts on it. LOK / Pitt / and some others are doing rentals some are even going to do indoor electric rental like LOK. Which is a great way to make extra income . Aside from regular races. Places like K1 Speed is always full of racers in all there leagues and work meetings and Birthday Races. So alot of tracks are doing a great job finding ways to supplementing there income with other things. Instead of just depending on the big racers. So alot of other tracks should do some of that. To help them survive … And hope they do. Got to remember alot of people dont have the time or money to do regular racing. And rentals are a great answer. And alot can be done rentals. JUST A OPINION always great to hear others …

The investment to club race is not meager, so if you are fighting track time with the rentals, example the track only has weekday practice for club and the rental dominates the opportune times or there is a short window and you only have 2 hours for club on the weekend, you might not waste your time if you have to drive 1 to 2 hours. I am not saying that LOK or Quaker are going to do this, but there are member only tracks like MCC, that require that you buy a membership or be a guest of a member. Again I am not affiliated I don’t know what they are going to do, just hoping for the best.

Lorain Ohio Kartplex is going be be a great facility from what Kris told me. It will have a separate electric indoor track with outside extension. And separate Gas Rental track that will not interfere with the pro track. So all 3 can run without interrupting each other. And the Gas Rental Track and Pro Track can be all blended together to be all one big track . Also Big building is going to be the electric indoor track and restaurant…

Thought people might find this interesting ?? Quaker City Kart Track in Ohio facebook page with track schedule… They are running rentals there too. Video on facebook page of them running !!! https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61569668053219

It looks like both STARS and CKNA racing there in 2025.

As someone in NEO that is hoping/planning to join in the fun of Karting in 2025 i am excited to have options.

LOK is close so if they have practice days like Quaker that will be great. I assume they will.

Thompson is established and as i understand has a great core group of racers.

Running at Quaker will be a little weird… last time i was there i would been strapped into my drag car for a quick 16 event. Probably 98 or 99.

Did the track open yet? I see practice listed on Alpha Racehub, but I don’t see any results. If open, anyone have video?

Paul, I went down for practice yesterday, which was the first day on the full track. Beautiful track and without a doubt the most technical I have ever driven. The bird’s eye view pictures don’t do it justice and I can’t really compare it to anything else. Lots of elevation change and off-camber corners, with a mix of slow speed and high speed. It will take a high level of execution to put together a banger of a laptime. I didn’t have my GoPro on but I know a few others did in 206. Should have taken more pictures. Even towards the end of the day I still felt like I was leaving a lot on the table.

It’s not far from where my daughter is in grad school so I plan to at least go practice there so I have an excuse to visit on my way home.

I’m imagining this track in a KZ, and expect it to be BRUTALLY physical. So many sustained cornering sections, and sequences! Looks to have a very different feel than many of the other tracks out there, so that’s awesome. Can’t wait to try it out.

Evan, it was very physical in a KA. The sustained left handers (10, 11, 12?) at the top of the hill reminded me of the left hand corners at the end of the back straight at MCC…except much longer and off-camber. I generally do not have neck strength issues and experienced trouble on Saturday. Supposedly, the “shark fin” will be removed for KZs during the club races, but will be interested to see the layout Stars chooses. Without the shark fin, you’ll be hauling ass into that section. All the much more physical.

My head is going to be ripped from my shoulders before I get to the final… Looks fun though!

Had a ton of customers out for first day and the universal conclusion was it’s unique, fun, a little bumpy and very physical. More gear and air than most anticipated also - but the track is still very green and dirty. Expecting the physicality to ramp up as things season in!

AJ and Loraine are doing a killer job getting a brand new facility off the ground from scratch - can’t wait to see where it goes from here!

Is the gearing in the Ka100 close to what is being used at Pittrace? I am hoping that Lorain, Quaker, and Pittrace are similar clutch drivers so I don’t have to buy a bunch.

I was a couple teeth higher than Pitt on the rear sprocket (same driver), which seemed ok at minimum RPM on my dash. Haven’t looked at the data yet. I imagine once more rubber goes down and I’m more comfortable on the track they will be very similar.

Tracks are the one thing racers can’t provide for themselves…the more the better. Sell your used chassis with a LO206 and introduce friends to the sport…

I’m excited for field trips to OH…
