Paging Mr. Callan:

Ping me when he gets a podium.

There is a big difference between being a gymnast who can afford to buy a seat in the F4 series, and a racer (that used to be a gymnast) who can really drive. But, he is just starting his ‘career’, so hopefully he’ll be able to learn, and step it up his performance. :+1:

I was hoping you didn’t actually read it. But, nonetheless, I submit that I may be on the right track here. Rebel Scum racing will not only out-apex you but we will also incorporate a tumbling routine.

Also, I bought your horse a faring:

Like a 17.8ish is definitely feasible.

Here:

I believe you said that I’m pointing the wrong way at apex here. Problem is that if I attempt to later apex it lengthens s1. That makes me wide between t2 and 3.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding. I do get your point about two inputs. It’s possible to do a one piece turn.

Mostly what seems to matter with 2 and 3 is keeping kart from wandering wide.

Im not sure what you mean by making a diamond

Now that’s my speed; single HP class!

I think I found this corner IRL. Dom these are exaggerated to make a point, but the red is making a diamond out of the corner as there are two large inputs. The initial turn-in is too early/sharp and a correction needs to be made mid-corner to continue to get the kart rotated. Versus a softer/later initial input, your biggest steering angle is in between the two blue boxes and carrying the kart thru the corner to just catch the back side of that tire barrier. It should allow you to carry more mid-corner speed and get back on the throttle earlier.

Might be worth a Google or watching a video, others can probably articulate this better than me. I think some of what makes it look like the kart is pointing way right is the VR recorded angle from just your left lens. Making it look worse than it really is.

Ah I understand now. What you show here makes perfect sense.

I have been aware that a later turn in further down the blue and white results in that different line. The challenge I have been having is that tends to result in longer S1 times, (but it also creates a great s2). If I can get a later turn in to come in in the .9s, that would work.

Ill mess around with it. Thank you!

It’s always some give and take. I think if you sacrifice a bit of entry you will gain more on the exit and the run to the final turn. Don’t fall into the trap of chasing just a sector time, you’re after the fastest overall lap, which might not be “optimal/best” sector time given the length of this track. For a random example, you could absolutely fly in a Sector 3, but harm your lap because you overshot S4 which leads into a set of fast chicanes.

Aye, thats the rub. I will play with this and report back. I suspect I will interpret what you mean incorrectly. Ill also try to get a sense of the visual rubber line as it relates to your thotts.

Ok is this kind of what you mean?

Trying to make it rounder sorta middle.

Oh yea! It might take you a lot of laps for that to feel comfortable and to carry the speed but I think there is potential. More importantly how did it feel to you?

Good, I think. It’s complicated because if you extend too far trying to late apex 2 you end up wide and under the bump of 3.

So, it’s a fine line. What helped was seeing it in your pic and then going aha, I see he wants me to sort of treat it like a middle apex round turn that doesn’t clip the kerb on exit, much.

After a bunch of messing around I think I’m starting to get the feel for it. The challenge is how it changes s1. It is slower as I am doing it currently, but progress has been made. Thanks!

You know what’s interesting? Accidentally deleting the account seems to have resulted in lower pace, sort of.

I lost all my tunes which shouldn’t matter much but it is strange how I lost a couple tenths. It will come back, obvs, but it is an odd thing.

@tankyx

Ai = the new crypto?

Cards-wise are we screwed, again? The 5 series is imminent. I assume the 4-series was a total waste of time because they were focused on ai?

Seems like right now there’s plenty of solid cards around for the normal folk. I never plan to play anything in 4K so no way I’m spending 800+ on a gpu

Picking up a 4060ti for like $380 with Best Buy sale soon

This 1440 monitor definitely caught my eye tho… .03ms response time Amazon.com

4xxx series is a mixed bag. 4070/4090 have great value, the rest is bad. I wouldn’t say 5xxx is imminent though, prolly 2024.

AI won’t affect comsumer GPU prices as much.

This is a great monitor is you can afford it, and better than its twin over at LG due to the custom heatsink.

I fired up KK the other day and stopped after about 15 laps. Seems half the chassis settings are gone (?) and the apex out oversteer is obnoxious with my G27. Tried a few setting changes (basically took out caster).

Disappointed TBH.

I have heard from folks with logitechs that it doesn’t feel great. I think that’s the case with TJ as well.

Now that you mention it, after erasing my account, it does seem like there’s less tuning options. I’ll have to check.

Oddly I’m a couple tenths off.
