@E13 i just spoke with Chris and he’s in the middle of a house move and hasn’t got the registration open yet. But, he is aware of my plans for the year and our desire to race so he will ping me when they are ready.
I would like to add that I find Instagram baffling. My racing pals seem to love it tho.
What am I missing here? It seems to be basically little shots of moments like “at the races” or “eating spaghetti”.
This seems like the young persons version of the Christmas letters that tell you way too much about their kids lives, but the opposite.

Exciting news for Endurance race participants:
I got a message from Alec (race director for TKC rental series) last night.
They will be running a rental Rotax race the day after the OVRP 6hr, at NJMP on the full track.
So, one could do the 6hr on sat at OVRP and the rotax rental race at NJMP the following day.

First time in a SWS event, and first time in a Rotax rental. The sodi sport chassis is the best rental chassis I ever tried. Extremely fun to drive !
A bit disappointed nobody was able to put up a fight. I still enjoyed driving it very much !

In terms of raw speed yeah, 4 of them. But they can’t keep the pace on the whole race so I finished first both heats and the finale with at least a 7 seconds gap

Tell me more about it. Rotax basically? What was cost to do the race all in?
Alec is arranging a similar race at NJMP in June or July on the big layout and rotax 125 rentals. It’s the Sunday after the 6hrs at ovrp which makes it a bit tricky.
The engine is a full rotax max, 30hp. The chassis is a Sodi Sport, 265lbs against the 341 of the usual rentals, but the same hard tyres. Plenty of front end, lots of rotation on throttle, very fun !

How long did it take you to realize you had a flat? That happened to me once in x30 and I couldn’t understand why I was so awful until I saw the flat. You’d think it would be obvious but it was not an immediate “aha flat tire”.
i realized it in the last corner at 3:48 at first i thought the driver behind me was pushing me thru the corners and picking my tire up then i looked back and he was a few kart lengths back so i instantly knew i had a flat so i adapted the best i was able to.

Here’s the first rental league race at NJMP. It was a hoot on the new Sodis, and a good field showed up. I recognized almost everyone from years past. Alec and I had fun working together and everyone raced hard and well!
It felt really good to get out there and kart, again. I hate to say it, but sim doesn’t hold a candle to this, and I am a huge fanboy of sim.
There’s a lot of bump drafting in these races relative to past rental races. I think I’ve gotten much more comfortable with that, thanks to sim NASCAR shenanigans.
So, while I’d rather race IRL, sim has very real benefits to me. Basically, I can not kart for months at a time and then go racing, confident and ready to go 100%. It doesn’t even occur to me that “I’m out of practice” because, well, I’m not.
Here’s the prefinal and final. I’ll put up some shorts later for those who get bored by full races. The punt in the finals was a miscommunication. I was trying to say “Let’s go get Luke” and the gentleman thought I meant, “pass inside”. Oops. Took ourselves out of the hunt for Luke but managed to hold positions, at least!
