If I do put one together you’re more than welcome to try it out.
I think the FZ85 would be fun on a tag chassis with rear brakes only. Probably put you near OK-N speeds.
Oh also the internal water pump is nice. No need to worry about snapping belts.

New stickers! New brake pads. New gearbox oil. Fresh air filter. Cleaned the spark plug. New 509 panels I know the Nassau is a bit low, still need to adjust it Ran out of energy after dinner ![]()
What are the challenges from racing in the desert, kart wise? I imagine setup for one, given blowing sand. Pressures?
Also I like those flowers. They remind me of La Jolla as a kid.
Well done sir .
She is sick !!!
Yeah sand. It’s never ever the same track from one day to the next, even if the ambient is the same. Takes a couple of runs to get pressure dialed in……some days/nights I just can’t get it because the track changes so much run to run. And the physical challenges of course - I’m not one to shy away from doing a ton of laps even when it’s 50 deg C ![]()
I love the flowers too - especially this bit ![]()
ESPN apparently created a list of 60 sports and ranked them according to difficulty based on a number of metrics.
”Auto racing” placed 32nd. We all know that “auto racing” is a wide net and within that there are some far more brutal and physical forms of racing and some less so. According to ESPN’s metrics, auto racing is difficult due to the bravery, hand-eye coordination, and strategic thinking aspects required, with some emphasis on physical strength as well, which I can pretty much agree with.
I’m not sure where I’d place it, but thought it might be an interesting discussion. Here’s the full list:
Pretty interesting! At least by those metrics and their definitions, it seems pretty accurate. I could argue durability is low. In really hot conditions, it basically is withstanding punishment over long periods of time.
I disagree with many aspects of this but am also not surprised. Not sure if response time falls under speed, but you’d think that would score pretty high for auto racing. How is bobsled above autoracing!
But I disagree with much of this, how boxing ended up top is beyond me. Ice Hockey I understand, but football being above soccer confuses me. Any sport where you take the whole team off and put a different one in for different types of play should drop down automatically lol.
On a similar note, I noticed a number of videos about the current f1 season. I am late to the party here but what I saw was Alonso saying they made the cars so slow the team Chef could race for him now. Max is having a panic attack I bet. Slow is not his friend.
I guess cars aren’t as tiring as karts. It’s only a 5 for car racing endurance versus 9 for Nordic skiing.
Err transition skating can be quite aerobic. Big ramps will kick your ass. This must assume flat ground flippy trick skating.
They didn’t strictly make the cars slow… They are actually significantly faster on the straights, and performance in the corners isn’t that much lower, but Alonso was referring to the massive hybrid energy recharging they have been having to do because the cars are constantly electrical energy starved. So for example in turn 12, Alonso was 35 kmh slower at apex this year than last year… Simply because the power unit was clipping and regenerating electrical energy there to be deployed on the front straight. It’s kind of a goofy setup. So he was noting how he was driving at like 50% in that corner to build energy, which he said his chef could drive that fast. Classic Alonso hyperbolic joke.
Street skating is tough aerobically too! It didn’t seem so bad when I was 16 but now I’m out of breath after a few simple runs of kickflips and ollie-ing over stuff… Does that say more about me or skating? ![]()
I think that says more about being kart-fit than anything else. Even flat ground skating has muscle groups that need constant toning.
That PSU energy regen thing thankfully seems fixable. Perhaps dial it back a tad.
Not exactly my kart but I started the kart lift build today.
Used 1 1/4” .083 in 6 ft sections.
Wish I had gas for the welder. But oh well last time my wife picked up the kart she said yeah no more!
I think they need to specify duration of activity in the evaluation. A 20 lap KZ final > 30s halfpipe ski run.
Love you man . Cheers from greece .
Keep the god job done
I dont know
is that pitt? I’ve sadly never raced there
G&J! A happy corn field track. Video incoming once I have the chance to upload.
