Saw this posted from all the street tracks nowadays.
Could barely tell it was Vegas from what I saw. The odd shot sure, but they could have been in my local trading estate for most of it. All street tracks look same nowadays.
I can’t put my finger on why the event feels off. Just feels soulless and I don’t really know why. Put me right off. lol
Be interesting to see what fallout there is. One assumes that anyone planning a trip to Vegas will now avoid November.
Max has been saying stuff left right and centre this weekend. Very reminiscent of Casey Stoner. Generational talent, best by a mile, nothing to prove, pure racer and sees through all the rubbish. Not sure how long he’ll be around if it continues like this, but it’s borderline unprecedented in the modern era (not including safety stuff)
Not sure validity of their case, however the Casinos will surely lean on Liberty to solve this, quickly. a $200 feature for Las Vegas Merch is an insult.
Can someone explain why verstappen didn’t get a penalty?? Was behind at the apex, and completed the pass by going all the way off of the track. So not only did he leave the track and gain an advantage, but he shoved leclerc off. No part of that was a racing move
5 second penalty, usually I’d be complaining that these penalties aren’t severe enough, but in this scenario it may actually be okay. I still think penalties need to be more aggressive overall but it happened to work out this time.
Had Verstappen managed to keep it on the track and still not made contact I would’ve said it was fair game, but I can’t believe it took them that long to decide the penalty on that call.
Also holy cow what a hit for Norris. Thankfully it sounds like he’s okay but this track is not forgiving at all.
Piastri looks wicked right now, too, unfortunate he needs another pit stop. I wonder if Leclerc can go on the one-stop the rest of the way. Verstappen has been having a night this weekend, but to be fair it looks like just about everyone has been as well.
All of the race spectators in Vegas that are new to the sport are going to be duped into believing all of these passes for the lead is typical for modern-day Formula 1.
This 100%. I just got back home yesterday from vegas…It was fascinating to see the scope of this entire event. I did not watch the race I’ve been on 16 day trip Riding dirt bikes in Colorado,Moab Utah and then some desert riding outside of Vegas and then 2 days working at trade show. The main reason I didn’t stay was because the tickets were stupid expensive and I really did not want to stay up to 1:00 AM watching a race. But I might stay for it next year. I stayed at the linq hotel And got the heck out of there at 5:30 AM on Thursday…I knew they had most roads closed within the course but got to use the temporary bridge. It definitely appeared to me that business was off compared to last year at the same time.
Also, I’ve watched qualifying post interview and race post interview and it’s pretty cool that max and Charles both have talked about karting and their years of racing together. A lot of karting references. Thats awesome.
“It was pure driving. Pure racing. There wasn’t any politics. No money involved either, so it was real racing.” Ayrton Senna.
“I’ve said many times in the past that my career’s not going to go on much longer; I’m not going to keep going and riding until I’m in my 30s and things like this.” Casey Stoner
“”(It’s) 99 percent show, and one percent sporting event….I just like to always focus on the performance side of things. I don’t like all the things around it, anyway. I know, of course, in some places, they are part of it, but let’s say it’s not in my interest.” Max Verstappen
For all the negatives floating around before the race from racers, locals, etc…the race turned out to be one of the best and most interesting races to watch in a LONG TIME. Passing opportunities in places where there wasn’t DRS, Redbull falling off the face of the planet at the end of their first stint where Ferrari was still going strong, great racing all the way down the field INCLUDING at the front. Not much more you can ask for at a modern F1 race.
Good racing can be found anywhere, meaningful racing can not. Liberty, in my view is doing damage to F1’s meaning… Without that, the racing is not good, even Las Vegas which was a result of it being ‘new’ and well-timed Safety Cars.
