Post-race report sometime later…but despite a sunburn, ROCKINGHAM was AWESOME!! This Xfiniti race was the best Winston Cup race I’ve ever been to…lol
By which I mean, Xfiniti today is like Cup seemed in the late 80’s early 90’s…accessible drivers, cars that looked and acted like stock cars, good racing… I could’ve done with less cautions, and Kasey Kahne not gettting wrecked, but otherwise, I look forward to doing it again next year.
This was the first “3 generation” race I’ve been to (my son, me, my dad) and we’ll look forward to next year too.
Highly recommended.
Oh, and my son got Connor Zilisch’s autograph. I asked Connor if he was still going to “slum it with us in KA100,” and he laughed and said he’d love to get back to driving karts when he can find time…
Yea thats steep. Charlotte motor speedway isn’t that steep but its steep too. I did a driving session with Richard Petty driving experience and i was shocked at how much visibility you lose looking forward once you got into the turn…you sort of had to look out the windscreen as if you were looking at a airplane in flight in order to see very far ahead. Nothing else surprised me but that part did. We only got to about 140 mph…felt like 200. I also did a ride as a passenger with a cup driver…we hit 165…that was a blast as we were dicing it up with other pro drivers.
i diddnt take a breath till i can here from the radio the driver with the number 20 says that im ok folks !!! after the serious hit on the inside wall ..
but thats the good things that tech bring to us .. i mean the walls is softer now and the cars are much more folding for humanity that they was in the past . so no harm done !!
a nice overall race with a wild finish and a joy for the ford fans to see their car finish first !
That was one heckuva hit! Thank God for HANS devices and modern safety… but why on earth would you still have a wall that bends IN toward the track?! Change that already…
That’s actually how you can tell which Porsche 917’s ran the 24 Hours of Daytona, they had to cut a hole above the windshield so the drivers could look up to get around the banking.
Related to the Talladega race, that was an insane hit that the 20 took, and unfortunately Connor Zilisch had basically the same hit in the Xfinity race the day before. He’ll be out this week with some lower back issues.
I also cannot believe they threw two commercial sequences in the last 15 laps of the race. I figure they were waiting for the big one but it never came so they had to run the guaranteed commercials before the end of the race, but man that really killed the buildup to the end of the race.
well !!! we got a lot of gooooodd racing in Texas on that race !!
some folks say that we may need to fix those bumps on the racetrack , i vote for no coz they give some hard character on the circuit it self .
scary but emotional moment when the number 11 car was sideways and covered in flames ! All went good for the driver and do you believe it was from fuel or from brake failure the cause of that mutch of a fire ???
So happy for Logano as a winner also !! and i kept my cheers in a minimun voice tone .. but i had some questions next day after the race about it ..
the question was something like ..
who the hell is Logano Sam ??? And did you miss him ???
I loved that race too.
Probably my new favorite track. It was so nice to see all the fights and drivers actually able to overtake others, sometimes even 2 spots in a single corner.
Kyle´s spin was frustrating for me but it was also so nice to see him fight back from all the way in the back up to the top 10 TWICE in a single race.
Chastain was also sooo good, fighting from one of the last spots up to almost winning, so nice.
