Prime Video, though, developed an AI tool using car data available to broadcasters and teams that can measure miles per gallon. The Burn Bar made a brief appearance during Prime’s first broadcast, the Coca-Cola 600 on May 25. It has been used more frequently the past two weeks and will be deployed again on Sunday during the race in Mexico City.
Definitely one of the few things I enjoyed about living in Ohio, plenty of 360 and 410 sprint car action to be found. Midwest open wheel racing is hard to beat!!! Like most of the south, Texas (home) is more NASCAR oriented with a focus on stock cars, modifieds, and late models.
Just wanted to put it out there that USA-based open wheel racing may have lost the driver with the most potential to be able to set F1 on its ear when Connor went Nascar. I completely understand how this path was the one he got set on considering the complications, politics, inconveniences, etc of getting Americans into F1/F2, but I’ll always wonder how he could of done or if a dominating stint in Indycar could have got him over there.
In any case, open wheel racing’s loss, Nascars gain. I’ve definitely been watching more of it than I have since the early 2000’s because of him.
They mentioned that Connor would be interested in running the Indy 500 some day. I do believe that kid can drive ANYTHING. His talent is amazing.
As for F1, I still don’t believe talent is the #1 factor in getting a seat in F1. #1 is still about how many millions you can bring to the table, and I don’t believe Connor’s family/backers have that kind of money.
The only chance is if Cadillac would want an American driver, but Zillich would need to be in open wheel cars leading up to that, which I don’t see happening.
Doesn’t seem that far fetched since he already has the pedigree of a having raced Sebring and Daytona in LMP2. Guess it will ultimately come down to calendar conflicts and contractual obligations, but hope springs eternal.
Connor is on the record about wanting to try F3/F2 but establishing him self in the US before he goes so he can come back to a drive if it doesn’t work out
Wow, well there it is. He’s definitely making clear that Nascar is not his only ambition.
Honestly, it’s a tough mentality to wear for an entire career (but maybe he’s the guy to be able to do it successfully). If I were close to Connor I’d probably be concerned about a ‘dog with two bones’ ending.
Also - the road to F1 which includes things like the Superlicense has just gotten annoyingly stupid and unnecessarily exclusionary (enough so that it leads to thoughts of conspiracies). Can understand how many would decide that the situation is just too much, and not engage with it.
In a stunning twist, fill-in driver Parker Kligerman won the NASCAR Xfinity race at Daytona while Connor Zilisch watched on from the pit box. Zilisch started the race, but Kligerman took over during the first caution period. He then drove a perfect race, going from last to first to claim — then accidentally snap — the checkered flag in celebration.
