2024 Formula 1 Season Discussion

Yeah I find him to come across very smug. I hope Bearman gives him a good fight next year.

Not his fault Perez kept crashing into him, and certainly not his fault for racing Alonso hard.

Why doesn’t Sainz get the same criticism for always seeing red (pun intended) when his teammate is ahead?

Because Sainz doesn’t crash with his teammate and he doesn’t have a contract at Ferrari anymore so he drives for himself only.

Also, I agree that most of the Perez/Ocon clashes were on Perez but Ocon was not innocent either.

Look at the first clip against Alonso here where he drives Alonso down to the wall and makes a second move to react to Alonso:

That’s how Ocon drives everyone teammate or not, and that’s fine, but when you are actively costing your team by needlessly defending and slowing your teammate down, that’s certainly not a good look.

When drivers don’t race hard against their teammates people complain that they are pushovers. When they race them as hard as everyone else people still complain that they are too aggressive. I agree that he shouldn’t have raced Alonso too hard in some occasions, but his approach of fighting hard against him isn’t flawed.

If Ocon did that to anyone else but fan favourite Alonso he wouldn’t hear any criticism.

Magnussen is off to BMW to run endurance races, which seems like a cool place to land. And possibly will be in the background for Haas doing consulting or sim work.
Article online says:
Like many experienced F1 drivers, he admits to having struggled with the new-from-2022 generation of ‘ground effect’ F1 cars.

“In 2022 I didn’t really notice because I looked good compared to my teammate,” said Magnussen. “But Nico (Hulkenberg) opened my eyes. He showed me what was possible with these cars.”

Refreshing to see a driver who can admit their shortcomings now that they don’t need to put on a stoic face every weekend.

Also says a lot about Mick Schumacher if KMag thinks he was not getting everything out of the ground-effect cars until he paired with Hulk. Mick clearly was not driving to the potential of the car then.

Magnussen wrote a book when he first left HAAS. Pretty cool, like mentioning he was supposed to test a F1 car at 16 years old.

Sadly, my foreign language skills don’t extend to Danish. German will have to do (and it’s rusty).

I just read that Max is pregnant. Congrats to him and his fiancee Kelly. Woot for mini Max!

I realize we live in a more gender/sex fluid world now.

But.

I have questions

Is that allowed under FIA rules? LOL

F1 says no cussing but baby mandates is not in their purview, I hope.

HULK! Monster lap there! KMag was quick in Q2 but car looked slick for his final run.

This is going to be a fun race tomorrow.

Hulkenberg, Gasly and Bottas:clap::clap::clap:

I would put Bottas in the second Redbull personally. He would be the perfect teammate for Max and a good point scorer for the constructors!

Magnussen said he damaged the floor running over the curb/bollard when he tried to jump out of the way for Hamilton.

That car is quick and the straights are long…

Didn’t expexct Bortoleto to win like that but oh well.
Also Hadjar should go to KZ2 if he says that

Finishing 2nd while being this unlucky … Good year for Hadjar

Nicely controlled from Lando today. Pity Max ruined Oscar’s race at the first corner but if it was me I would have gone for it too! Great drives from both Leclerc and Hamilton. Nice to see Lewis leave Mercedes on a high👏. My guy Gasly put in a solid drive to cap off his great qualy performance. Hulk a nice result. He must be wondering what he has let himself in for next year at Sauber.
Looking forward to next year with Lewis in the red car. Not sure what Redbulls plan is but neither Yuki or Lawson should take Perez spot if he is out. If they want to win the constructors champ again I’d put Bottas in there… a safe pair of hands. Wish it was going to be Sainz there but will be interesting to see him giving Albon a drubbing😊

Yes, it was a good/sensible drive by Lando. It was important for McLaren that he didn’t make any mistakes with Piastri down the order. 2025 is going to be a great season.
