Shape looks cool. I have the current model with the hot dog bun fairing, I think this new one looks better. Never really been a fan of TonyKart liveries though. I am planning on doing custom graphics for mine soon.
I’m sure the intent is that those edges act as vortex generators to decrease the effective drag or “dump air” onto the radiator and engine, but whether or not they work outside of the wind tunnel or super-high speed euro tracks is probably a fairly marginal thing
Clearly if you want a good OTK livery, you have to Do it Yourself*
*pay a nice graphics company to recreate one from the 90’s
Heat sinks at the master cylinders has me scratching my head. It’s so far from the heat source. I would have thought a beefier standard rotor would be more cost/performance effective then a bunch of extra machining on the caliper.
I dub thee the Flying Taco.
Maybe the Carlos Sainz kit will come out decent. I do like the current design.
OTK offers a larger 206mm rotor compared to the standard 180mm. In my experience, they were overkill, slower to warmup, and could potentially be damaged by curb strikes.
Yeop I’ve ran it as well and preferred it. Just think they could have added some additional mass to the standard one. Very easy to overwork the stock setup IMO. I had to run the stupid duct to keep pads alive for a weekend.
Would pretty easily get some brake fade out here in the desert.
FWIW. I, too, have had issues overheating the brakes on my OTK/Rotax running Masters weight of 405 lbs in the past. Some tracks were obviously worse than others. But, part of the overheating the brakes in my case was not releasing them enough and dragging them while cornering. I haven’t run into this issue much since then. I prefer the standard rotor with cintered pads.
Such a dumb design choice…
The heat from the caliper assembly does not migrate to the master cylinder. Waste of $$ for the more intricate parts.
OTK has some good brakes, design has been around a little bit now. Kinda don’t understand the push to go to something so costly to manufacture in general.
The rest of the kart, hideous…
Our Tony is about to be retired this year. Makes the CRG we are looking at seem even more attractive now.
Oh now I have ideas.
Maybe those are less cooling fins and more structural ribs that happen to offer some cooling? Solid would be stiffest, but ribs look neater (and looks do matter), are lighter, and could offer some cooling. It is certainly stiffer than if the fins were not there, and brake feel is strongly influenced by the stiffness of those parts.
It almost looks like they removed material for weight. The old master cylinder has the reservoir flush along with the fill plug. Now it’s raised. It’s very strange.
Yes, I saw the same thing, it looks like the same body, but with less material.
By far the best looking one of the bunch. Though I do actually like the Exprit as the design gives off some old school Kosmic vibes.
At least its not as ugly as the old (current) bodywork, but the M10 is around 210euro for that hotdog thing, this will most like get a hefty bump upwards.
Its getting out of hand, and this is what happens when karting is dominated by to many rich people.
The CS is the best looking OTK kit over the past two iterations for sure. I like that the black hides the goofy strakes. The number plate looks like a tribal tattoo to me.
