4Z190 Four Stroke Daytona Based Shifter for Karting

I’ve been following the project for a while, but it was hard to get actual pricing on it. The page is a bit confusing to me in terms of spec at given dollar point, but I’m easily confusted.

Just today I noticed a package on a website that gives an idea of the cost. At 22HP (Karting spec might be higher?) it’s somewhere in the order of 80cc two stroke performance with a five speed gearbox.

Maintenance intervals, on the Ohvale equivalent it’s around 50hrs between top end service (Valves, springs, Piston) depending who you ask. Bottom end about 100Hrs.

It’s on my want list for an old kart I have, just something to play around with and pound out laps while being able to grab gears. Save time on the ol’ KZ.

I’m with you here. Could totally see myself on one of these as a lap pounder. I still have the old Compkart chassis too, would just need to build it up with components.

I have an ancient Biesse which was my Uncle’s so it has sentimental value, it’s currently just sitting and waiting. Rear brake only, but that’s how I prefer it at those lower speeds.

Okay hear me out and call me crazy… but like I said I have the blue comp shifter frame… I can put standard spindles/hubs, rear brake only, and run an 80cc Honda and probably have a blast of a lapper…

Im starting to feel like @Stamatis125 with all the ideas going in my head right now and crazy projects I want to do haha

The 80’s were fun little rippers for sure.

is it big an heavy? Elbow killer?

Not sure of the weight. Looking at it, it looks to be less of an elbow killer than the KA or other 100cc engines.

I am feeling the cr 80cc is a sweet present for us , but we have to be on a diet to make it race wise pace .

Iam ready to make the extra mile . And see what happens , if you are ready too !

I’ve followed along quite a bit and they’ve made upgrades to the engine along the way to get it to where it is. Comes with a slipper clutch now for one. They’ve been testing a new billet shift drum to change the direction in which the shifts happen as it was backwards if you hooked it straight up. Lots of little tweaks to get it better for a kart.

Take my money and 20 character$

It looks like it is air-cooled like a 911 used be. Basically with a large oil cooler. Does look like fun.

It is definitely air cooled. They added the oil cooler at some point to help with reliability.

Sounds like 911 to me.

Yeah actual “air” cooling capacity is pretty low on these engines, an oil cooler is essential

Any idea of the dyno curve? Curious what the peak torque is and where the peak torque and hp happen in the RPM range.
