6 Hours of NY with Rebel Scum and Shake and Bake

Sadly, Marc’s camera failed so we have no footage of him racing. We’ll just have to imagine how it went.

A 1080 reminder

Andre used my older hero 7 which is a 1080p camera. I was annoyed at how much artifacting there is when you upload native 1080p.

So, I reencoded one video 1080 upscaled to 4k, and it looks much better. So, upscale is better.

1080

Upscaled

Look at the pavement. In the 1080 footage there is a shimmering blockiness. Square resolution artifacts. The 4k upscale seems to make it better.

Interesting. Are you saying this is a YouTube thing? As in, the source footage is 1080, and does not have those artifacts, correct? It only happens under YouTube’s compression?

Yup. I have always felt like YouTube uses a crappier encoder for 1080 stuff

Head shake at End

Have you ever noticed the slow, somewhat disgusted head shake that karters all seem to do when they are forced to participate in someone else’s foolishness?

I am not alone in believing this.

Trajectory good, velocity questionable:

(From practice, don’t worry he didn’t crash in race)

Can we please get our act together and pretend we know how to do this?

@EnduranceKarting : OK racers, I ask that you all be careful entering the track and yield to the racers on the racing line as you rejoin.

@nikspeeds Hold my beer…
