Thanks to everyone that watched and commented. I hope it was valuable to you and that you learned something. Iām certainly open to doing more - I have lot of fun sharing AiM and data knowledge with people.
If you missed it and want to watch now (or go back for something), here is the recording.
Really appreciate your time and willingness to share your knowledge!
Ping @tankyx
He has a way to do this that seems much better than racerender (which I used for years but stopped).
@tankyx pretty badass that you were able to figure this out. I use Insta360, but I do export videos from Instaās editing software in MP4 format, so maybe I could use those instead of GoPro files. What youāre doing is probably beyond my skill level, but I could probably learn it with someone more tech saavy sitting next to me to help me understand your instructions.
I know the SmartyCam is not inexpensive, but I think itās a terrific value. The one thing you canāt buy at the track (or life) is time and the camera give you that. Because it turns on automatically, starts recording, stops recording, and then turns off all while writing the data to the video means you can pull the card, put it in your computer, and be ready to watch. Import that video into RS3 and you have all the data ready to go with synched video for analysis. Itās an indispensable tool IMHO.
Got no merit, as I am a software engineer, this is not complicated for me. But this tool would be a lot better with an user friend GUI indeed
Would anyone like to do another session for some RS3 Training? I thought it might be a good time now that the season is underway in the south and about to start in the north.
Id like to see data analysis with the new mychron 6 datas steering angle
I donāt have files I can share yet, but here is a screen shot of a test with it. So far the data Iāve seen is really good. This is a test I did quickly and it was just an oval, but you can see the steering position works really well, goes on the track map. The scatter plot is steering versus Lat G and you can see the oversteer clearly. The track map is also colored for steering position, so you can see the countersteer there too.
Any idea why tracks would be uploaded without splits? I upgraded to 3.72.13 and now splits on the track are gone and I canāt figure out how to manually add them back in. On every data upload I receive a message saying āWarningā This run features an unrecognized track map"
