Here asking for which data logger is best, the phone is an extra option there, my local track offers holders for alfanos and mychrons you can purchase for rentals and for Sws sessions so I’m considering it but most likely going for second hand which is the best option?
The GPS in the dedicated dataloggers is going to be far superior to a phone. That said, another option is to use additional hardware with your phone… Ie racebox mini
If u have a mychron theres only 1 app can works. Called lapsnap. Its a subscription based app but it works with free account too, but the free one you can only add 1 session. Paid one can have lots of it.
I like my alfano. Easy to use, seems rock solid.

The biggest advantage with the alfano is battery life.
The mychron battery is a bit of a joke really, I fit a separate 12v nmh battery instead.
I think the mychron is marginally better, the software is far more advanced, but also far more complicated.
The mychron software is free from the aim website, called race studio 3 so you can have a play around with it before deciding.
