Some rental “lo206”-esque karts. rental hondas with 9-12hp or so for less than a year.
What’s the main thing you need help with to get you started.
Finding people in the Austin area to point me in the direction of where series are run, who to talk to, where to get karts, some advice here and there to get started!
Sorry if this is the wrong area, I can’t find any other people that would give information on who to talk to or karting communities in the Austin area. Hoping kartpulse has some texans here who can give me some advice.
I’m in San Antonio. There are a lot of people from Austin that go to Hill Country Kart Club in New Braunfels to race. There are lots of great people there that are willing to help. You have two choices there to help with karts, Texas Karts run by Tommy Muth, and KartingDepot.com run by John Mueller and Doug Foxworth.
It’s a concrete track, so it is really easy on tires, but does leave you looking for a little bit of traction. If you don’t mind travelling some, there are great tracks in Denton, TX (North Texas Karters) and Houston area (Speedsportz Racing Park and Gulf Coast Karters). There are great people at each track that you can talk to. All of those tracks have a good turnout for LO206 Senior classes.

Welcome. What is your budget? Have you thought about what class you want to run. @Zebug hit the nail on the head with his suggestions. You also have HOT (Heart of Texas Kartway) in Waco and two others in the DFW area.
If you want to start off with a used setup, you can check out the website forums and facebook pages for the tracks. There are several listings for karts and equipment.
