Are Urace custom suits legit?

The quality from the pictures look nice and the price is very low. Are they not homologated? What is the catch?

You’d have to ask them who’s homologation they use and cross check that with the FIA’s homologated list.

They used to and may still use PM Sports who had been homologated on behalf of Speed Racewear, but for whatever reason that homologation has been rescinded.

I couldn’t get their website to work but the brief glimpses didn’t mention homologation.

For what’s it worth the not homologated suits we sell are cheaper.

what is the different between homologated and non-homologated? besides the certification

Well non homologated could be anything at all. Could be made out of anything, could offer no protection at all.

Or it could be exactly the same without the homologation tag on it.

So you’d want to buy a non-homologated from a reputable outlet (not eBay).

For example we sell Marina suits, which has an homologated and a non-homologated. The suit is exactly the same, just with or without the FIA tag.

I think there’s enough ppl on here who’ve bought from Urace and had a good experience to consider them reputable.

Yes, they are legit. I just got mine in July - my only complaint is that the suit is a bit hot, but it’ll definitely protect you. It came out the right size, shipped quickly, and looks exactly like the rendering they provided.

PS: Forgive the messiness in the photos. My boy cat is psychotic

That homologation hasn’t been valid since last year.

Meh lol :man_shrugging: subjectively it’s certainly thicker and using the right materials, which I can’t say for a lot of the suits I see these days.

I don’t believe the series’ I race require the homologation anyhow.

Doesnt look great quality though

We just had one done and we are happy with how it turned out. Less than half the cost of others for a made to measure, custom design suit. Thicker material, safer for sure. Turnaround time was quick.

Agree with others on suit thickness and definitely a little warm. But happy with what I got for the price.

My suit lasted about season and half. It now has 3 holes on it, two around rib vest contract seat and one on my butt when I wore through my seat one time. Pretty happy with it, but now the price has gone up quick a bit, pretty much level with other brand, not sure it is still a good choice. Like m2, K1 and etc.

i was noticing on the alpinestars site a bunch of clearance suits that looked nice. Not custom but some nice ones.

I have fallen in love with this one I made, so I am just going to get it tailored with my dimensions

My uRace suit is nice and has held up well over 2 years of use. I’m happy enough I’ll order a new one for next season.

I’m pretty jacked from lifting lots of weights and also pretty fat from the Doritos and Oreos but the suit fits well and there’s only one fitment tweak I plan to make the next go around

It is a little “warm” but it’s still lighter than my Sparco x-light which was considerably more money.

The ball ventilation on the uRace is phenomenal

Doritos, Oreos, some muscle, and ball ventilation. These are all platforms I can agree with.

Wallana is another non-existant homologation.

I’m not saying the suits are bad or don’t meet the requirements, but they shouldn’t be sold with the fake homologation details on them.

Thanks? I guess it depends how you define quality. I’d argue that suits that look good but are paper thin aren’t high quality. We wear them for a purpose, and it isn’t to look “cool”, that’s just a benefit.

I’m hoping to find something lighter for my next one. I have a really beefy Torque suit and while I’m sure it’s great for sliding across the pavement, us rental racers tend to not flip or get ejected.

So, I want something that looks legit, offers some protection, but is thinner and cooler. It would have to pass muster for the EK events but that’s not hard.

I’m seriously contemplating a jacket only type item but I cannot for the life of me find any cool looking ones.

They appear to be kaput or at least have gone so dark that all their links are highjacked.
