Avoid "FK Visors"

I recently bought a replacement SK-6 visor online, thinking it was made by Arai. I was tempted because the color is very nice. However, what arrived was made by “FK Visors” which claim to make visors to spec for any helmet. BUT their specs are off, so the visor will install, but not fit correctly, with gaps around the visor, gaps where the screws/bolts go, and generally bad integration with the locking mechanism.

Highly recommend others avoid this brand (which is sold on several major karting sites) and ensure they only buy official products (which is a shame because Arai constantly has issues keeping visors in stock).

If anyone knows another alternative that actually fits, I’d love to know. Looking for a red mirror visor.

I run LLC visor, very high quality. My helmet is 3 years old, the visor as well. No real signs of wear and perfect fitment

Red mirror is no longer available for Arai helmets because Arai had major issues with the red coating failing. Some aftermarket companies offered red/rainbow but those mostly seem to be gone as well.

For aftermarket visors I always buy Fm-v from Japan. They make interesting colors and the coating is very durable. I have a few that have stood up over multiple seasons.

Good to know about those issues with the red. I was wondering why Arai wasn’t getting them back in stock. I wonder if this FK one will have the same issue.

I think part of the problem with the fit is that the hardware doesn’t fit quite the same as on the stock Arai visor. The washer doesn’t sit flat and it creates a slightly different “bend” in the visor overall. Loosening the screws seems to somewhat resolve the issue, but I’m not sure if it will become a problem with further loosening during a race.

I would be concerned about the actual safety of the visor if the fitment is that bad because clearly it is not an Arai visor that was coated, it was a poorly made knock off. So who knows what material it is or how safe it is.

I eyeballed some of those not Arai offerings and they seem nice but decided to go with OEM recalling that part of the reason why I love my Arai is that it looks like it could stop a .22 round. The quality of Arai is borderline lunatic obsessive.

Thanks for “taking the bullet” and sharing your experience with us.
