Best chassis for Lo206 masters

What is a good kart for masters class? I’m looking to get a kart (i’m tired of my son having all of the fun) and researching my options. Tires will be MG red and class weight is 370, I’m 6ft 210.

anything in decent condition without cracks. Jake Heavlow IIRC placed 3rd in some kind of international series in 2023 206 with a 2009 chassis. otk, crg, birel, praga, are some of the main brands.

Are you thinking used or new? I would want a brand I know I can easily get parts and advice for. If you have a brand that has local support that would be ideal. It might make sense to have the same brand as your son’s kart too for the same reasons as above.

At which track(s) are you racing? My recommendation would be different if you were in NC vs Canada.

I’m looking for used and 90% of the races will be at Newcastle.

For New Castle, I would be looking for an MGM. At your height and weight, you are borderline on making the other karts work well.

I was looking at an Eagle and Birel, why the MGM’s?

I think the Birel RY30 is pretty good… First race I ran at WRP this year, third overall race this year, chassis fresh out the box… Came across at 396#.

Caveat to this is the chassis with 3" of fuel in the tank was 171 with no lead.

Is that chassis a two cycle chassis?

MGM’s are stiff. They tend to be more free with big humans on them. There is nothing wrong with an Eagle or a Birel. Both do well out at NCMP, as well.

I don’t really like calling them two cycle chassis, but yes. It’s the chassis designed for 2 smokes.
