Best way to drain fuel

What’s the best way to drain the fuel tank?

I normally cut the zip tie from my fuel filter and dump it from there. I don’t like the idea of off/on every time I drain the fuel. Is there a better way? Maybe a 3 way with a 1/4 turn valve.?

What’s the standard practice here?

Takes about 5 seconds to pull the tank out and dump it in a fuel jug.

Disconnect the fuel line from the engine, feed the line into your gas can, blow into the breather tube and wait. Use a reusable spring clamp.

I’m with TJ. Just pull the tank. Generally we do it to ensure we have the approved fuel for the track. Leaving a half inch of fuel in the tank from draining by siphoning leaves the risk of failing a fuel sample test…

Option 1, pull fuel line from carb and drop line into a fuel can. Blow on tank to start flow and walk away. I do this at home when I want to drain the tank but don’t need to clean it or go fast with it.

Option 2, unthread the vent line and pickup line from the tank, unthread the tank bolt, and slide the tank out. Open it up and dump it. On the OTK it was a bit tight to get out sometimes, on the CRG it is extremely easy. I do this when I want to clean or when I am switching between spec fuels for a race event.

While I would agree that removing the tank is ideal, its kind of a pain on my karts. So I use a syphon tool I found at Tractor supply and put the fuel back into my fuel jug. Between race weekends I think it is sufficient.
