BestBlog: Developing and Refining a Chassis For The American Market

I was in the 9.5 to 10.5 range myself.

I’ve wondered if running at pressures below 12 or so at Masters weight if we’re doing some structural damage to the sidewall that causes this. Doesn’t apply to TJ at senior weight but perhaps that threshold is lower for lighter classes.

Well I’m officially registered for SuperNats. Didn’t think I was going to go this year but the factory wants to try it again, this time with alllllll the knowledge we’ve gathered over the season and, what we think, is the best frame/components combo for this circuit.

Potentially will have a teammate from overseas also in KA, but no confirmation on that yet.

We are going to be MUCH more prepared this time. As in, we won’t be building and learning the kart on the first practice day.

We will be pitting with the Franklin Motorsports/Hotz Driver Development camp, so it’ll be fun to be with old and new friends for the week.

Certainly can’t go any worse than last year did!

Holy cow! Hope you send pictures with Joe Turney :sunglasses:

Did you try out many different seats? Ive been looking into what one to get for next year running 206. Most people at my track run the TilletnVG but ive also heard that kart republic chassis work best with Jecko. I know its just the KR2 frame basically and not the whole kart but wondered about your opinion? TIA

I’ve tried the AMV silver soft, Tillett T11t, and a soft Greyhound. The softer seats seem to work best at freeing the kart up so a T11VG or the soft AMV/Greyhound would be good as well. The factory tested the Jecko and didn’t find any advantage other than driver comfort, as the material is similar to the AMV seat.

I would say any soft seat would be a good baseline, though the standard T11t was fine too.

Thanks I appreciate it! I had a greyhound in it initially but gained some weight and the AMV seat it came with is a bit too big. Good to know any of those soft seats will work well.

You gonna race Stars 2025 as well? I thought marriage might render you to the karting trash heap.

lol my plan is just to do Supernats. That’s expensive enough

New Year’s Update:

BestKart released their cadet chassis, along with the new decal kit (designed by yours truly) that’ll adorn all the 2025 karts. The cadet chassis should be really strong. New full-size kart coming too, with some tweaks to some components and a few updates based on our development last year. I’ll be testing additional components, including new steering shafts with different geometries, when Spring comes. I’ll be sure to post about my findings when that comes together.

There are some big things coming this year for the brand, and I’m stoked to continue working with them. Should be a bigger presence here in the States this coming season.

Thanks, we tried to make it pop more. Everyone said the old kit was hard to see on-track.

Dropping a line to let @tjkoyen know there were 3 BestKart KZs in Lonato this past Sunday, first time ever seeing them !

As aluded to by you prior, the kart seems to work well with KR accesories, as the steering column, hubs and rims were all KR.
