Better vortex switches?

I’ve seen too many kill switches go bad on vortex karts. Is there a better switch out there? Am I the only one seeing this problem?

I think it is a common problem, at least if you’re talking about the buttons popping off. I bought my kart from a race team and they run tape across the buttons to prevent it.

The kill switches fail commonly on KAs too. We don’t run them plugged in if possible.

If you run it without the switch how do you kill the motor?

The motors don’t like to run at idle without a small amount of throttle blip in and out, so they often just stall and die. If they don’t stall, folks will put a hand over the intake and essentially choke the engine out.
We have the old style soldered kill switch and it broke the solder joint. Can’t find either of my soldering irons (haven’t used since we moved 3 years ago) and haven’t gotten around to fixing it. So we were without a proper kill switch about half of last season.

If the carb is set up properly for racing and high RPM, it shouldn’t really idle as Chuck said. Cover the airbox and choke it to shut it off.

The KA will idle a little bit sometimes, but usually it’ll shut off itself when stopped.
