Braking in 206

Interesting. Maybe someone can brute force a TAS input laptime then.

It is not a cheat, it was allowed (it was a script to emulate perfect dual clutch) Twitch

For future reference “a friend” almost always means Tanguy when discussing hush-hush Motorsports stuff.

He’s got all sorts of fun stories.

Cool…That’s pretty much what I thought, and what I’ve been doing. I haven’t raced yet, but I’ve been out on the track with other 206s that have, and I’m turning equivalent lap times, so it seemed I was doing something right. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I hope to get into the local track racing this year. Gotta add 55lbs to my kart. (DANG lead is expensive!) :astonished: Thanks for all the replies guys!

Sorry to necro but this is now relevant:

Did any one else click on this thread thinking it was about break-in vs. braking in a 206 . . .

This is all my fault for taking this thread down a different path. Sorry!

Have you looked into Open Lap?

OpenLAP Lap Time Simulator Part 6: Lap time simulation

The problem with simulations of this sort (and similar commercial software packaged costing 4-5 figures) is that you define the path, and it determines how fast it is possible to follow that path. The problem is that any path you define will almost certainly NOT use all the capabilities of the tires.

There is a way to resolve this (hint…invert the problem), and use these methods to find the true ideal line for a set of vehicle and track parameters, but it is computationally VERY expensive. You can be certain that all F1 teams are doing this.

In lo206 I usually just lift, and I only brake for two corners at my local track. One is a hairpin and the other is about 45° most of the faster drivers look like they rotate about 10° through the a couple corners. Not a whole lot of braking in 206 as you aren’t as fast as any of the two stroke classes.
