I couldn’t avoid them” Ross Allen didn’t appear overly pleased with his horrific luck as he described what had just happened to him during Race 2 of the final weekend of the British SuperKart Championship at Donington Park.
There’s unlucky, and then there’s unlucky - engine blows up and then you get smashed into it. For me however, as terrible as this was for Ross and the Jade team, it meant I, and the small gathering of people standing at their pit space, got to enjoy watching people fix stuff. I wouldn’t call it ‘schadenfreude’ as such, as that would be unfair, but there’s just something about watching people fix a kart, or whatever, that puts you in a trance-like state. It’s weirdly meditative, at least for the observer, not so much for the people doing the work of course! Continue reading
