Can anyone give me some tips to get the steering wheel off my 2024 OTK chassis so I can mount a bracket for the MyChron? There is a lot of torque on these little bolts and they are soft metal that just strips when I pull on them. Same with the nuts on the other side. I have a metric allen wrench set and I’m pretty confident I’m using the correct size wrench. Thank you.
You are stripping the nuts, so you either aren’t using the right size or didn’t get it seated. Remove the pins and put a socket on them.
Take the clips out and get a 5 point socket on there. Break it loose with the socket, then you can do the rest of the work with but Allen if you want. Or a combo of both.
I’m not sure you can get a socket on all of them. I seem to recall that on our 2022. At this point the nuts are ruined so you can used vies grips if needed. As James mentioned the best option is a 6 point socket if there is enough clearance. Always loosen the nuts first on those ones. The Allen head is not strong enough if they have been really cranked down.
Thank you @Brianf60 I’m gonna try this! And just so everyone knows I am obviously not trying to remove them with the cotter pins still in .
I cant say that i would not thinking off dat as im driving to work …hahahaha…
Now i am smiling and feeling relieved.
Good morning Bisaya
Update: using the socket worked! Thank you all!
