Careburator Claning on sealed 125cc Rotax Mini Max engine with dellorto vhsb 34

Hi Guys and Gals,

In the Polish edition of the Rotax Max Challenge, we draw an engine from the ones the promoter provides.

The drawn engines are sealed, so we cannot disassemble any parts, including carburettors, etc.

I have 2 questions:

  1. Is it worth spraying Motul Carb Clean inside the air intake of the carburettor to make sure it is cleaner than initially (we are not sure how engines are taken care of in between competitions)
  2. Can it potentially worsen things for us and cause harm instead of improvement? Remember that we cannot remove carburettors for cleaning and have to do it with the engine on.

Cheers

The only thing that would be effected by harsh chemicals is the float height needle seat. It has a small rubber tip. I personally try to not clean the carb with the needle inside it.

Can you pull the bottom drain plug to access the jet? If so a quick look inside would tell you if the carb is dirty and needs cleaned.

Thank you for your answer,

I will examine the bottom, as we can change the main jets so we have access to the bottom of carburettor

Cheers

You Can not harm anything with Brake/carb clearer, so just go at it.
But i do hope that the promoter have gone through the carbs before the race.
