Changes over a weekend

Hi all,
I run a kr2 in tag/x30.

Let’s say I’ve hit the spot on set up for the first race on a Saturday. What kind of changes are you making over the course of the weekend? Cheers.

Depends on what the track is doing, grip levels, weather etc.

Can’t really tune a kart from home without knowing what handling issues will pop up or what the track is going to do.

Generally speaking as the grip builds up you might want to add a bit of negative camber. Mainly the change is your driving to stay “under the rubber” as the grip starts to build in. Basically start turning in earlier and earlier.

Widening the rear track width.

Taking camber out (to help with inside tire wear).

Lowering pressures for longer races.

They’re 3 pretty basic adjustments one might look to adjust from heat racing > finals day.

My understanding was that negative camber is usually used on new tyres, then as the day/weekend progresses you “stand the tyres up” gradually by taking negative camber out to help with inside tire wear (as David said above).

Could depend what compound you’re on. For MG reds I think the degradation isnt really that bad over the course of the weekend, so you dont need the additional grip by going more neutral on the front end. Personally I’ve experienced that the track builds up more grip and then the front can become a bit too stuck or twitchy, and negative camber helps alleviate that. You’re still using a different part of the tire to combat tire wear with this method.
