Pulled the trigger and bought a TM KZ R1! Bit of an upgrade coming from a 10C. It was a financial decision as this was quite a deal in comparison to the bottom end rebuild the 10C would be needing in a couple of hours.
Bought this R1 fully rebuilt, but I didn’t like the black high gloss color on it as it does not come close to something the factory would normally use. So I decided to paint it with a different color.
I did not have the right tools to completely dismantle the clutch housing so decided to use masking tape as best as I could and send it.
I expected the anthracite color to be a bit darker, so I might revisit this overhaul later this year. Will paint the inlet and exhaust manifolds and engine mount too which will result in a fresh look.
Replaced all bolts and washers for stainless steel and polished all brass parts. Took all kinds of measurements for future reference regarding jetting and piston sizes etc and will test this engine upcoming sunday.
What cosmetic changes would you suggest?
