I just recently bled my brake system on my kart, but the brakes showed no improvements, there was no air coming out of the bleed screws and I bled it three times, what could be the issue? my brakes will not actually start engaging until full brake is applied (very unresponsive brakes)
You haven’t mentioned what the problem is. My best guess for next steps would be to take off the caliper, then remove the pistons and clean everything really well with brake cleaner and replace the seals. But that’s just a guess without knowing what the issue is.
So do the brakes move enough to contact the rotor and stop the kart?
How old is the kart? What are you doing to bleed the brakes?
If they are moving but not enough to work I would suggest a rebuild of the master cylinder and caliper.
If they stop the kart but only with full travel your pads might be worn out. This system uses a square 0-ring that is supposed to keep the piston out of the bore as the pads wear, if the pistons are fully returning into the caliper you likely need to rebuild the caliper (o-ring set, but possibly a new caliper if the caliper body has wear).
pay close attention to the pad to rotor clearance, run as close as possible then adjust as needed
the karts around 2 years old, using a tower to bleed the brakes, alos one thing I havent metioned is their is a lot of dark spots in the brake line that connects the caliper to the master cyclinder and brake linkage
Can you post of picture of what you mean?
Also is this with new pads in it?
You can shorten the rod between the master cylinder and pedal to take up some of the slop in the system. I shorten mine to where the brakes come on almost instantly with next to zero pedal travel. But that’s a preference thing.
That should be the current design caliper and the tower should be effective for bleeding. The dark spots aren’t of concern, its a protective layer really, the hose isn’t kinked or pinched is it?
