Cylinder bore honing

Can anyone give some advice on what stone grit that rebuilders are using to hone X30 and also KA100 engines please.
Should I start with a coarser grit then use finer grit to finish with. Also what piston to bore clearance and ring gap should be used for both engines.
Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

Not an engine builder by trade, but I use 180 Grit.
Its the mid range stone for my hone. The others are 80 and 280.
I’d love to hear the arguments for and against different Grit of hone.

It’s an interesting subject to see what people are doing.
I was told to use a 220 then finish with a couple of swipes with a 400, so not sure if this is a good idea.
