where to set cylinder height on a kz or any two stroke is it a compromise between exhaust height and squish.
not sure what this is for, but it’s factually incorrect. Cylinder height is set by base gasket. Then squish is completely independent, and it’s set by the combination of deck height, insert shape and its distance from the deck (head gasket). Of course, assuming same piston.
I’m not sure on the rule set for KZ but in a world where most current rule sets restrict any machining of any surfaces port height and squish are absolutely related because the only thing that’s adjustable is the base gasket stack.
KA100 for example every engine I’ve come across is setup to the minimum squish spec leading me to believe engine builders value squish / compression more than port height.
Under KZ rules you can correct both independently and ideally this is the way to go.
I get the impression he was maybe trying to ask a question.
@michaell52 is there a particular engine for which you’re trying to get this information, or just asking in general?
