Dates for USAC Karting’s two Major events in 2018 are locked in… Press release details below…
October 24, 2017 Indianapolis, IN –Save the dates for the two races that made karting fun again in 2017! Both of USAC Karting’s 2017 events will return to the calendar in 2018: the Battle at the Brickyard at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Elkhart Riverwalk Grand Prix.
For the second time ever, a competitive karting event will be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In 2017, over 300 entries made history racing karts on a hybrid track that used part of the IMS road course, access roads, and the apron of the famed oval. In 2018, the Battle at the Brickyard karting portion will be held July 5-8, 2017.
“We’re excited to be invited back to Indy,” stated USAC Karting Director Mike Burrell. “I think everyone who came to Indy last year enjoyed the event and appreciated how special it was to be able to race karts there.”
“We learned a lot in 2017 that will be used to improve the 2018 event. We expect it to be bigger and better than last year’s. I can’t wait to see how many karters from across the country ~and the world for that matter come and try win a Brick!”
Also returning for 2018 is the Elkhart Riverwalk Grand Prix in Elkhart, IN. This famed street race was reborn in 2017 an immediately became a favorite with the drivers and thousands of fans who attended. In 2018, the event will be August 10-12; with more details coming shortly.
“Elkhart was a party! Karters told us the race was fun, some even said they had too much track time, but the whole weekend was an EVENT. We’re currently working through a list of ideas from the city, sponsors, racers, and local businesses on how we can make 2018 even better.”
“One possible hint for Elkhart 2018: bring clear visors too…”
