I’m looking for some aluminum rims to mount a set of rain tires on and I really can’t find any that aren’t insanely expensive, but I did find a set that are direct spindle mount. I’ve never used DSM rims are worth getting or should I stay away from these?
For wet weather driving you typically want to widen the front track width out as far as you can to get front bite. DSM wheels are not going to let you get as wide of a track width on the front end generally, and won’t have the same stiffness in the spindle area that a hub would.
That said, if you just need something cheap and aren’t as concerned about max performance, then DSM wheels probably will be fine.
Not all tire changing tools work with DSM, too. Just something to consider if you use a fancy tool
