Effect of split nose cones?

Can’t seem to really find the answer I’m looking for on this but anyways… I’m constantly splitting open front noses on my OTK…. Standard ride height etc. is there a huge performance loss from me just taping over the split underneath or am I just being finicky?

I do usually just keep replacing them but almost $200 a pop with shipping is a cost I’m trying to keep to a minimum.

And I don’t mean like a blow out underneath. Just a straight cut across the bottom like a razor blade.

TL:DR are cut open noses slower and does taping them “fix” them or is a new nose always just “better”

I normally just do club races so i definitely don’t expect to always have perfect equipment but just wondering how much I’m giving up if any

Thanks in advance

IF you’re allowed to just tape it up, for club racing I’d do that.

Mind you, in most rules it’s not allowed, and at big events they will often check nose cones when you come to the grid because a nose cone with holes in it will be less prone to getting a pushback penalty.

I plastic weld all my bumpers and panels, not sure if that’s allowed where you are as my methods tend to be very unconventional (as per my buddies). You can get a plastic welding kit on Amazon for 20 bucks and patch up just bout anything.

I agree with rob. Most big events dont allow any kind of repair on the bodywork, front back sides. I understand that bodywork aint cheap, most of em use the beaten up bodywork just for normal practice days and the good ones for race weekend only because they checked everything.
