We just reopened GRX and David has met with the cops for the inspection. We are a go but the officer has interpreted a regulation in a way that we think might be erroneous.
We are running weekends only since there’s an emt present due to the motocross activities at the facility. We’d like to be able to run week as well, like all the other rental outfits.
It has been my experience that for series races (F-series, Endurance Karting, etc), that there is always an EMT present for those formal events.
It has also been my experience that there is not an EMT present for rental locations. Not for public sessions or for league races. I can use SC, Xtreme, etc as examples. Last week at SC a lady had some heart issues, EMT was called and they came, for example. There is no ambulance waiting at the rental places like at a series race event.
Thanks, do you infer from this that yes there needs to always be ambulance present? Even for rental stuff? Perhaps the rental facilities that I go to in NJ have some sort of workaround for this like SC. Perhaps the entire complex which includes a bunch of businesses has its own EMT force or something
Also, there different rules for carnival and amusement rides, which I think is what we are, technically, which would explain why none of the other rental places have EMT on standby.
(a) The licensee shall not permit any race, practice or exhibition of driving skill unless there is available for immediate use at the licensed location at least one vehicle suitable for ambulance purposes, together with two certified EMTs.
Starting to understand why there is little karting in NJ….
Your insurance carrier likely doesn’t even require an EMT on site for an actual race let alone an ALS or BLS. Neither WKA nor NKA require them even for a national caliber event. Unless that has changed in the last few years.
