Anyone catch angela cullen is back with sir lewis hamilton?
Guess that didn’t go too well for Lewis then, big crash in his first real test! I heard it reported that a bump in the track was part of the reason for the crash

Antonelli out doing some rain karting with other Merc juniors.
It’s a bit baffling to me that the solution to Alpine’s management problems and internal politics was to bring in Flavio.
He’s no-nonsense but surely immediately piling on a ton of pressure to Doohan isn’t going to work.
I really don’t understand the Colapinto hype. 5 year contract for an extremely crash-prone driver with an average junior career? Time will tell (especially how Albon compares to Sainz), but Doohan appears to be a safer option.
I think Jack’s contract length ( i heard it was 6 races lol) is for two reasons, one they don’t have that much confidence in him, two they didn’t want to be left in the lurch like they did with Piastri. Get him locked down and try find a replacement. I’m sure there’s options to extend in his contract and have performance clauses to get him out.
Colapinto, beyond his performances with Williams, is Argentinian and Renault Group (owners of Alpine) have a large presence there (I think they are the 5 largest automaker there). And then of course he brings Argentinian money.
Still not quite there yet, but we’re getting close (or not, nothing shocks me)
I wrote this this morning which kinda sums it up
I think events like this are inherently cringey. But as far as cringey corporate events go, I thought that was fairly entertaining. Yeah, it’s obviously cooked up for the less die-hard fans and a younger crowd with the DJs and whatnot. But it would also be quite boring if they just did a very stale and corporate job with a bunch of old crank F1 drivers sitting around. Car launches have gotten so boring anyway lately, because they never show the real car, so there isn’t much to discuss other than the livery.
I could do without the musical interludes and Jack Whitehall. Otherwise, I thought it was well-produced and some of the media pieces for each team were very cool; showing history and heritage of the sport.
Meanwhile, stateside: Cletus McFarland is the antidote to the corporate stuff
I went to see it live (mostly as an excuse to use some promotional free tickets to and from London). It wasn’t too bad, maybe too Hollywood-esque for my liking but it was fun seeing all the cars at once. I liked it better than the boring corporate videos/images we usually get with car launches. Not a fan of the music or the overall vibes, but I liked some of the liveries and presentations.
So Alan, what did you make of last night’s show? While busy covering it, I must say I found the whole thing rather entertaining and well-put (besides the Jame Bond entrance falling flat and Stroll still unable to mimic any form of interest). Definitely a concept for the younger generations of fans, but slightly more exciting than Williams’ sitting chit chat
I think contract is a standard 1 year contract, but with a performance clause so he can be let go after 6 races.
But Colapinto, whilst being mid, has huge star power that makes him desirable for a midfield team.
F1 75 was cringe, especially the opening with MGK, wtf were those lyrics ? Alpine introduction was cringey as hell too. The host was funny though
Just traditional corporate cringe, I couldn’t watch more than 5 minutes. it looked a bit dated to me. But…it served it’s purpose. I am not averse to being expressive, and maybe inducing a certain level of ‘cringe’ in people, it comes with the territory of promotion.
It unites the ‘true-fans’ who thought it was naff, and they share in their distaste (plenty of ‘cringe’ usages on various social media) and entertained the other part of the fanbase. win-win.
I think F1 is in that place where they can do ‘no wrong’. They have no competition. Whether they can go ‘too-far’ is yet to be seen.
Making a James Bond impression when one of their drivers is Lance Stroll was certainly a choice.
Glory lap or not, good to see Carlos up on top of the board for day 2 of testing. McLaren sounds ominous with their race pace.
Was the bullet coming out toward the audience as usual, or in toward “Bond” ?
