Formula 1 - 2025 Season Discussion

Lando’s race sim was untouchable. Obviously this all means nothing yet, but that car is planted.

Bernie and Ruth are saying that on yesterday and today’s race sims, the McLaren was 0.4-0.5 faster per lap over both Mercedes. That gap comes down on harder tires, so looks like Merc is having higher degradation. That could be an issue given that this week is so cold in Bahrain and it’s expected to be much warmer for the race.

2025 is going to be a remake of 2025. McLaren V Ferrari, Ferrari gets the constructors, Lando gets the drivers. Russell will get a strong start but Mercedes will fall off due to focusing on 2026.

The McLaren is looking very strong.
Love the young blood on the grid. Hamilton is also looking energized again

I truly think we have the most talented grid since … ever ? We are missing out on Drugovich and Pourchaire, but if we discard Stroll, all teams have stacked lineups this year.

I hesitate to take testing as a serious indicator of the cars’ actual performance. These conditions are vastly unrepresentative, and it only really shows how easy it is to get each car to its ideal window. Some cars seem to be already there (McLaren, Williams, maybe Mercedes), others still seem to be a step back in that regard (RBR, Ferrari from the top teams). Melbourne Q3 will be the first real indicator of the real pace of the cars. We still don’t know how much fuel they are using on their long runs, the engine modes they are using, the setups they are testing and the programs they are running.

The titles will mostly be decided on which teams drop out of the title race to focus on 2026. I can imagine a few teams going for it (Mercedes, Ferrari) if they are not competitive, but others (McLaren, RBR) will likely put full focus on 2025 if they have a competitive car from the beginning.

MBS seems like he’s got a bit of a Napoleon complex and is getting a bit drunk with power. The recent actions of the FIA with regards to firings and language bans and everything else seems pretty heavy handed and authoritarian and when questioned on things MBS basically says “none of your business” or “shut up and drive”.

Not a fan.

lol the Leopard ate their face

What do you think about the rumour that Susie Wolff is going to run for the Presidents role?

I think Susie could be good for it. However that’s a lot of power in the hands of the Wolffs.

Tend to agree, she might be good but its a conflict of interest.

Problem is its hard to find no conflict of interest in motorsport.

While I’m not thrilled about it, I’ve removed the posts that refer to Max, Jos etc. In the interest of fairness I’ve removed any\all vs picking certain ones out.

Back to 2025…

I think Max is going to win on Sunday. I think he can win in the third best car, and red bull might prove to be better than that.

OK that kind of Max talk we can get behind!

Melbourne under the rain ?
