Formula 1 - 2025 Season Discussion

Maybe there already are, but it would be cool to see a ELMS or WEC race there, seems like a fun track. Maybe Superkarts too

One step closer for another hometown boy… Probably a good time in his career to go for the F1 dream. Andretti has shown it isn’t consistent enough in IndyCar to challenge for a title in the past few years, Palou has been winning everything and probably will continue to do so, Herta had a bit of a rough year compared to previous years so his stock probably won’t get any higher for a while. Make the move, be the test driver in F1, learn the paddock and the logistics, and then step into the race seat when Bottas or Perez age out (which probably won’t be too long).

I am not super aware of Herta’s level, but I guess his age (and maturity) will help in F2.

I think the move makes sense for Herta. He’s not been in contention for a title in Indy so why not take the chance at F1 like he’s dreamed of? I think there will always be a seat back in Indy if he wants it.

F2 is really competitive, so it would be interesting to see how he performs at this level against the young but highly skilled drivers

He’s young enough that if it doesn’t work out he can go back and have a second career in IndyCar.

Will be fun to see him in F2! He’s got a lot of natural talent and a lot of experience for his age but as noted in the press release, understanding the tire is going to be a huge hurdle.

Is it confirmed he will run F2?

Also I’m not sure why the tire is considered such a hurdle to overcome. Races are going to feel short for him. The longer F2 feature races are still way shorter than an Indycar race. F2 sprint race is going to feel like a qually session.

If he runs F2 I see it going one of two ways.

One he kicks ass and beats up on some 15-17 year olds where he has way more experience. Or two he runs mid pack and it’s not a good look, one of Indycar’s fast rising stars flops. Colton didn’t have a good season this year so he’s not going in with alot of momentum.

Yes, confirmed he will run F2. No word on what team yet.

The Pirelli tire seems way more difficult to figure out in terms of managing degradation. A lot of drivers going to the European junior ladder have commented on that.

But he’s done some F1 testing and reportedly was impressive so maybe he won’t have an issue.

Hinch and Rossi Pod confirmed that he is pursuing F2. However MP and Medland from Racer, see a risk if he isn’t with a top F2 team. Apparently there is a HP difference and engineering difference, that is significant. However Bearman and Kimi made it to F1. I feel bad for Jak who has been working hard in the Formulas and is being bypassed by Caddy.

Is F2 not about collected the extra couplie of super license points? He doesn’t really need to be winning. Maybe I am wrong, I haven’t looked into all this too much, but this is what I’d assume is the reason to do F2. Surely he isn’t going to be near the back, top 10s should be reasonably expected.

Yes, I think it’s more about the SL points than results.

I think his extra experience will help him against the younger kids. But that could be my old man bias talking.

Ciao from Monza!

That position swap back was so lame!

When does the team decide they step in? Why didn’t they swap positions back in Silverstone for some bad luck/bad penalty.

If Lando hadn’t just blown an engine the previous race would they still have done that? Seemed like a pity party.

Engines letting lose and bad pit stops are part of racing.

Well In my veiw McLaren just told every one who they want to win the WDC without doing so.
Not surprised In any way

Next race from the pit wall:

“Oscar just letting you know Lando has a flat tire. We are going to need you to box and remove a spark plug to slow you down, so it’s fair and Lando can catch up.”

If I was Oscar my radio would have somehow stopped working.
