F1 being F1. What a stupid VSC call. Max would have gotten him on the straight. Charles even said Max would have gotten him.
Start was madness. Max squeezed wide and sliding along the curbs. So so close to smacking that outside barrier… Fortunately he slid back and gave positions to avoid a penalty. Allowed an opportunity for an interesting finish.
I rather enjoyed seeing Hamilton get a penalty for gaining an advantage. Just seems like he is one of those drivers that gets away with mistakes when they happen.
Surprised at how much Piastri struggled to make headway during the race. Really expected more there.
Poor Sainz. He just can’t catch a break in that Williams.
Bearman!!! Darn that was a solid drive. Looked like the HAAS was more competitive overall this weekend. Even Ocon showed some pace today.
Brilliant race even with the safety car. Piastri might’ve gotten Bearman, just as Max might’ve gotten Charles. I know it’s right to praise Verstappen for recovering to the podium, but this was a devastating weekend for his title hopes.
He is now 36 behind #1 in the championship having been 40 behind #1 in the championship. So he has gained. Far from devastating. It still keeps him on target to at least being in the hunt at the final round.
Brillant race from Lando. Monster pace. This is what I was expecting from him for this season.
Mexico is an outlier on the calendar though, so that might change in Brazil.
Very disappointed by Oscar. I wonder what made him give up Azerbaidjan onwards.
@Alan_Dove sure, it could have been worse, but 4 points gained in a weekend at this juncture puts him in a very difficult mathematical position, to say nothing of the form Lando showed.
He was 100+ points behind a few races ago. I think getting tot he last round and not being out of the championship totally would be an incredibly success. In my view he has had to rely on some catastrophic weekend for McLaren come rain or shine given their pace.
Yeah that qually session was scrappy for Charles and Lewis.
Someone needs to make a scaled down version of Interlagos for karting. Looks like such a fun track and probably brings some of the best racing on the F1 calendar.
Sectors 1 and 2 just look like a blast to drive and flow. Then you have the monster run down the front straight. That would be so much fun in a kart. It’s quite fun on the sim, but the elevation changes in real life must be sweet
Back in the day they’d have just put 40 sprockets on the Class 1s and sent it. All tracks were kart tracks in the 60s lol I think in one year Bobby Allen raced the indoor worlds and then Sebring in his Class B
