Whenever you go look at a kart keep a few things In mind.

  1. Always look at the underside of the chassis, it’s normal to some scuffed paint and slightly flat spots (especially on the very front and sides). If the kart has chassis protectors that is a bonus, just make sure they weren’t thrown on just before the sale. Don’t want to buy any chassis where underside of the frame, or any part for that matter has any holes or large cracks through the alloy.

  2. Always check the seat supports, check the welds around them, they tend to crack which is normal. Welding them back won’t really hamper performance so long as they welded it correctly.

  3. Take a look at the nooks and crannies of the chassis to see if there is any major build up. It’s a telltale sign the kart wasn’t regularly cared for and was just wiped down to “look pretty” for sale. Karts tend to pick up a lot of crap on track so a little bit of dirt here and there is normal even after a pretty good cleaning.

  4. Ask if the chassis has been bent, if it had been bent ask when it was bent, on what side and were it was straightened (if at all).

It sucks I’m in the Jax area and sold my 206 a few months ago. Hopefully when you find the right kart, let me know , I’d be more than happy to come to the track and help you get started. Was planning on taking my shifter this weekend but it’s looking like it’s going to rain :man_shrugging:

Its over priced, but it does have a Stewart Engine, if you could get him down to the $2,500-$2,800 range it might be worth it IMHO.

The first kart has front brakes, will need to disconnect those to be able to run competitively. If we are getting nit picky it will also add weight, curious to know the chassis diameter as it was clearly a shifter chassis, if it’s 32mm tubing it will likely be too stiff for a 206.

Second one looks a great deal, even if you add on a new engine and engine mount as well as all the accessories you could be in for less than $3750ish track ready.
