Hi everyone,
I was driving around 7 Laghi Branduzzo Circuit (ITA) while my GoPro fell off.
What could be the cause of that?
It was a warm day, no crashes, the track is bumpy and has high curbs, but it shouldn’t be a proble for an official GoPro mount. Too many mechanical vibration pheraphs? Or too much curbs?
I don’t know when if fell beacuse it apparently ran out of battery moments before… But it was on the outside grass of a fast chicane where you jump over the curbs
Sh*t happens is all. I think possibly heat from the rad weakens the plastic just a guess though
Look for a metal case instead of the plastic legs.
A little plastic mount isn’t going to hold up to 2-3Gs for long. Make sure you zip tie or wire your camera to the radiator or base of the mount as Richard noted.
Blasphemy. Hmpf. Have yet to see any failures like that.

Thanks for the answers guys!
The plastic mounts tend to crack if you tighten them too far. If you have trouble with them slipping you can use carbon assembly paste for bicycles, just a dab on the tabs and it’ll be solid. If you switch to a metal case, just make sure it’s either mounted on something that has some give, or use a rubber isolator. Vibrations are the main killer of GoPros
GoPros suck. The old session was rock solid. The units with removable battery are all flaky on the 2-stroke and can be on the 4-stroke. Only time we don’t have issues is when helmet mounted for practice. When chassis mounted for racing, the vibration is brutal. We have used a RAM mount, and Odenthal, and an Odenthal with the isolators. We have mounted with no camera case and inside the case. Didn’t matter, with 3 different generation cameras. The new Mini series is a charging and battery nightmare, just google the issues with it. Find ANYTHING else…
I tried everyone GoPro from the Hero 8 to the 12 and they all sucked. Failed, overheated, vibrations killed them, corrupt files, battery issues… But I got a new Hero Session this year and it’s been totally problem free.
I was a big fan of the old Session. So simple and easy and bulletproof. Seems like the more complicated feature-filled models are a mess.
The current sale in the osmo 4 and 5 tempt me. The 5 is next gen and also has a wide attachment lens.
The session is an awesome camera. I love mine. Still irritated that they discontinued it. Fortunately there are still third party manufacturers of spare parts and stuff. Nobody seems to be super happy with the AIM cameras either.
Iirc you were the beneficiary of my hero session when I outgrew it. ![]()
am I the only one who hasn’t had hardware problems? One of my 9s would overheat and shut down but that’s it.
now, the software, that’s another story.
Not wrong there, I have a Fusion360 paperweight because GoPro quit supporting the software which now doesn’t exist anywhere.
I’m loving the Insta360, especially the One touch AI edit button ![]()
That hero session lived a good life. Survived getting run over by a kart twice!
